Biography of Nathaniel Cameron JR

Music cannot be separated from everyday life. Almost every day people listen to music as a form of entertainment. Nathaniel Cameron, Jr. is one of the artists who honed his vocal talents from the age of 8 until he had close relationships with famous musicians such as Jon Batiste, Trombone Shorty, and Terrance Blanchard as the leader of the St. Augustine Marching 100.

Even now, he has the role of tour and production manager for Tank and the Bangas, Grammy-nominated winners of the 2017 NPR Tiny Desk Contest and longtime members of Nate’s musical family. Nate continues to carry out his duties as cultural curator with pride.

Her commitment to collecting, documenting, sharing, and creating history through music is her work in artist advocacy and empowerment, event production, and economic development. Working with his wife Krystle Sims-Cameron, Nate founded Them People Productions, an organization that offers artist support services and hosts events centered on Black artists created to strengthen community bonds and promote cultural healing.

As director of Ropeadope Records’ new Artist Advocacy Group, he empowers modern music creators to connect with talent brokers and venues around the world so they can build and maintain fan-based communities around the globe.

As the founder of The Oakland Second Line Project, Nate offers a free cultural community experience that brings the authentic African roots of Second Line History with the spirit of community building from New Orleans to the POC community of Oakland, Ca.

And most recently, Nate started a new chapter in guiding and preparing local creators so they can take advantage of the economic framework he helped develop. Nate’s personal and professional experiences proved to him that the connections created through shared artistic expression are vital to society.
